Types of Animation

There are various types of animation. Anime (a style of Japanese animation), claymation (animating clay figures like Gumby), and cutout animation (such as South Park) are a few examples. Disney animated movies ans most Saturday morning cartoons are examples of classic animation. This form of animation is produced by animators drawing figures in sequence with tiny variations between the drawings so that the figure seems to move. This is the most fundamental level of animation and has not changed since the introduction of animation. What has changed are the production and editing methods. With technological changes, animation went from the zoetrope to Pixar’s all-digital feature films. In this site I am focusing on classic animation, in particular Disney animation.
